Those Singing Boys

They sing,they dance and they're good looking.Music critics don'tlike them very much,but millions of their CDs are sold and their concerts are always packed with hysterical fans.No,we're not talking about a secific pop group.We're talking about a phenomenon - boy bands!


The modrn boy band era probably stared in the 1980s with a pop group called New Kids on the Block.Auditions were held for the group and five singers were chosen from over 500 teenagers.New Kids on the Block were a huge success and since then,many similar groups have come and gone .So how are boy bands born?This is what usually happens: - First,the producer decides on a look and sound for the band.
- Then,an advert is placed in teen magazines, or talent is discovered in trendy clubs and discotheques.
- Next,auditions are held and the band members are chosen

- After that,they are taught to sing and dance,how to deal with the media and how to work together as a team.Often,they meet famous pop stars and learn what it's really like to be a star.

- Finally,songs are recorded and released on the radio,concerts are organised,and with any luck,the band becomes famous.
